12th-century German Benedictine abbess (1098-1179).
From age 3 saw vivid mystical visions, finally wrote them down at 42 with papal blessing. Composed 70+ liturgical pieces, wrote treatises on medicine and natural history, invented her own mystical language, and scolded popes and emperors by letter. Canonized only in 2012 — 800+ years after her death.
