Alexander von Humboldt
Father of ecology
Prussian naturalist and explorer (1769-1859).
He explored South America for five years, climbed near the top of Chimborazo, and was first to describe nature as a single connected web — even warning of human-caused climate change. More things are named after him than any other person.
