Father of taxonomy
Swedish botanist (1707-1778) who gave nature its naming system.
He invented the two-word naming system — genus and species — still used for every living thing, from Homo sapiens to the housecat. Boundlessly confident, he classified thousands of species and reportedly said, 'God created, Linnaeus organized.'
