Florence Nightingale
Founded modern nursing
English nurse, statistician and reformer (1820-1910).
Defied her wealthy family to train as a nurse, then led 38 nurses into the Crimean War's filthy military hospitals. Cut soldier death rates from 42% to 2% through hand-washing, ventilation and clean water — and proved it with the polar-area diagrams she invented to convince the British government. The 'Lady with the Lamp' was equally a data scientist.
