Medieval Italian Dominican friar (1225-1274).
A large, quiet man his classmates nicknamed 'the Dumb Ox' — but his teacher saw it: 'This ox will fill the world with his bellowing.' Fused the recently-rediscovered Aristotle with Christian theology in the massive unfinished Summa Theologica. After a mystical experience near the end, he stopped writing — saying all his work 'seems like straw.'
