Ancient Greek philosopher (384-322 BCE), student of Plato, tutor of Alexander the Great.
Where Plato dealt in heavenly Forms, Aristotle wanted to catalog and explain everything in the actual world — and basically did. Founded formal logic, wrote the first works on physics, biology, ethics, politics. Tutored teenage Alexander the Great; when medieval scholars rediscovered him via Arabic translations, they called him simply 'The Philosopher.'
